Typically, red foxes range from 12 to 18 pounds. They primarily feed on small rodents (8 pounds or less), but they will also eat plants. They’re most active at dusk and dawn. (The pictures above were taken in early morning.) If you have any concerns about a fox being in the neighborhood, there is an informative article about foxes published by The Humane Society in the link below.

Bald Eagle Seen in Walden Cluster

Today, a friend of the Walden Cluster from Chadds Ford, an adjacent cluster, spotted a bald eagle in a tree at 2003 Swans Neck Way, near Lake Thoreau. There is a link to the picture below.

Bald Eagle on Lake Thoreau

A bald eagle was also seen on Lake Thoreau a year or two ago, but it only stayed in the area for a few days. You may want to keep your eye out for this eagle, as he probably won’t be here long.

Web Page Updates

The Walden Cluster Board recently met, and though they have decided to not make this the cluster’s official web site at this time, they will work with the maintainer of this page (another Swans Neck Way resident) to provide information that may be useful to owners, tenants, and anyone interested in our neighborhood.

The cluster documentation is subject to change, so although every attempt will be made to keep this web page up-to-date, please contact the Walden Cluster Board if you want to ensure that you have the latest versions of any of the documents included here.  This should be abundantly clear from the many caveats on the various pages, as well as in the documents themselves.

I hope that you find this page to be useful.

Aerial View of the Reston South Lakes Area

This is just for fun.  The link below is a YouTube video taken from a remote-controlled airplane that took off and landed at South Lakes Shopping Center.  It flies over both Lake Thoreau and Lake Audubon.  The townhomes in Walden Cluster can be first seen at around the 1:30 mark of the video, as well as later in the video.  For best viewing, click the bottom right corner to get a full screen display.

Welcome to the Walden Cluster Web Page

Welcome to the Walden Cluster web page!

First of all, I want to be clear that this is an experimental page.  As of this point, the page has not been approved by the Walden Cluster Board of Directors.  In fact, they have not even seen it yet!  I am a neighborhood resident who suggested that the cluster develop a web page, and in turn, I was thanked for volunteering! 🙂

If you have stumbled upon this page, I should explain what Walden Cluster is.  We are a neighborhood in Reston, Virginia, in the United States.  The neighborhood consists of 52 townhomes on Swans Neck Way, and we all enjoy use of beautiful Lake Thoreau from a large community dock.

The intent of this site is to serve as a repository of information useful for all Walden Cluster residents.  This will include static links and references, as well as posts to discuss neighborhood news, including upcoming events, board decisions, helpful hints, and so on.

I hope you enjoy the page, and please feel free to provide comments on how this can be improved.
