Today, a friend of the Walden Cluster from Chadds Ford, an adjacent cluster, spotted a bald eagle in a tree at 2003 Swans Neck Way, near Lake Thoreau. There is a link to the picture below.
Bald Eagle on Lake Thoreau
A bald eagle was also seen on Lake Thoreau a year or two ago, but it only stayed in the area for a few days. You may want to keep your eye out for this eagle, as he probably won’t be here long.
In a joint service project with Boy Scout Troop 1313 and Walden Residents, we tackled the removal of English Ivy, an invasive species that had been growing aggressively in some of our common areas. Together, we removed 347 cubic feet of ivy. We appreciate the help of all the Boy Scouts, and in particular, we thank Derek Phillips for leading us today!
And thanks to Kathryn for taking the above pictures (and for doing her share of ivy pulling)!
Walden Cluster hosted their annual Halloween Party, and a good time was had by all! The Party included a parade led by the Reston fire engine, face painting, and of course, treats!! Thanks to Jami and Jacinta for organizing.
The Walden Cluster Annual Meeting will be held on Sunday, October 7, at 4:00 pm at the Cluster Dock. In case of inclement weather, the meeting will be moved indoors and will be held at 2005 SNW. This is a chance to socialize with your neighbors, share your ideas for improvements, and help shape the future of the cluster.
The meeting is preceded by a pot-luck picnic next to beautiful Lake Thoreau. Please bring a dish to share. Beverages will be provided by the cluster.
The board encourages all homeowners to attend the meeting. At least 1 owner from at least 11 households is needed in order to be able to vote for two open Board positions.
Well, we didn’t actually see the Easter Bunny, but he left eggs filled with goodies for the children and friends of Walden Cluster!
The Walden Cluster Board recently met, and though they have decided to not make this the cluster’s official web site at this time, they will work with the maintainer of this page (another Swans Neck Way resident) to provide information that may be useful to owners, tenants, and anyone interested in our neighborhood.
The cluster documentation is subject to change, so although every attempt will be made to keep this web page up-to-date, please contact the Walden Cluster Board if you want to ensure that you have the latest versions of any of the documents included here. This should be abundantly clear from the many caveats on the various pages, as well as in the documents themselves.
I hope that you find this page to be useful.
Our neighbor, Bob Riedel (2030 SNW) is President of the ARCH Association and asked that we let Swans Neck Way Residents know that tonight, Thursday,Jan. 26, from 7-9pm there will be an information update regarding the Metro. Welcome to the Walden Cluster web page!
First of all, I want to be clear that this is an experimental page. As of this point, the page has not been approved by the Walden Cluster Board of Directors. In fact, they have not even seen it yet! I am a neighborhood resident who suggested that the cluster develop a web page, and in turn, I was thanked for volunteering! 🙂
If you have stumbled upon this page, I should explain what Walden Cluster is. We are a neighborhood in Reston, Virginia, in the United States. The neighborhood consists of 52 townhomes on Swans Neck Way, and we all enjoy use of beautiful Lake Thoreau from a large community dock.
The intent of this site is to serve as a repository of information useful for all Walden Cluster residents. This will include static links and references, as well as posts to discuss neighborhood news, including upcoming events, board decisions, helpful hints, and so on.
I hope you enjoy the page, and please feel free to provide comments on how this can be improved.
